Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, 526 N. Huron Avenue, Mackinaw City, Michigan

The lighthouse operated from 1892 - 1957. It was deactivated when the well-lit Mackinac Bridge was completed. It now serves as a Maritime Museum and a fee is charged for entry. There's a great view of the Mackinac Bridge from the site and you can take a short stroll down the beach and stand under the bridge.

It's a nice place to enjoy the beach, the bridge, and the historic lighthouse.

Cape Saint Mary Lighthouse Park, Nova Scotia, Canada ~ September 2025

Perched high on a cliff, this park offers spectacular views. The lighthouse itself was built in 1969 and contains both the light and a fog alarm. It's the third lighthouse on the site, the first being built in 1868.

In 2018, a granite monument was installed to commemorate those lost at sea in the Municipality of Clare.

Built in 1904, this lighthouse was living quarters for the keeper and his family for over 50 years. 

Keepers:

William Joseph Melanson, 1905-1950.

Louise Melanson, 1951-1972.

After Louise passed away, the lighthouse was boarded up until 1984, when it was repaired and turned into a small museum and gift shop. Unlike many lighthouses, this one was free of charge to enter. A steep stairway brings you to the light, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beautiful place.

Stonehenge, Wiltshire, England ~ 2015

It's been 10 years since we visited this famous UK landmark. It was built from 3100 BC until around 1600 BC. Recreated neolithic huts are nearby along with samples of the stones used.

Seeing this in person was a memorable experience, that we shared with lots of people 😊

We took pictures from every side and angle, knowing we'd never be back.
