The Potterville slogan is probably very apt considering all of the disasters that have befallen the town.
1991 - tornado
1994 - lightning strike (injured 22 people)
1994 - earthquake
2002 - derailment of train carrying propane necessitating the evacuation of the entire city
2006 - train derailment
2008 - F3 tornado
2010 - fire destroyed the most of the downtown
Linus Potter founded the town and his son, George, donated the land on which this historic church still stands (105 N Church St). The church was built in 1877 and was remodeled in the early 1920s. The stained glass and bell were retained from the original.
Other than the disasters, Potterville is known for this place, featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives in 2007. It's been owned by members of the Bristol family since 1960 (120 W Main St).
So of course we had to try some. Not bad. Not bad at all 😊
When Guy Fieri visited he created a new menu item for the restaurant but none of us wanted to try a deep-fried hamburger.
We all went with the more traditional, and quite delicious, cheeseburger.
It's a great little place with good food and service, and the best restroom sign.
Considering the history of the town, this plaque at the restaurant entrance is really saying something.
