Northern Michigan, Part 1 of 3 - 6/27/13

A family wedding on Saturday at the Homestead in Glen Arbor brought us up north Thursday so we could enjoy a leisurely ride up and enjoy the sights of the scenic route.
We drove by Silver Lake and into Ludington, where this restaurant owner might want to rethink the name of his restaurant...
Maude's Garage was oh so colorful.
We soon headed out to Pentwater and decided to stop there for lunch. Interestingly, and unfortunately, we couldn't find one restaurant on the water so we settled for distant view of the inlet between Lake Michigan and Pentwater Lake.
We continued on through Manistee and took another break in Frankfort where the lakeshore and sky were quite stunning.

We didn't take the walk to the lighthouse but said goodbye to this lovely place and drove our last miles to Glen Arbor to check into the resort and find other family members who were already there. Tomorrow there will be sight-seeing on the Leelanau Peninsula.
