Bowens Mills ~ 55 N Briggs Road, Middleville, Michigan

This place is a wonderful collection of historic buildings. There is a working grist/cider mill from 1864 with a 17 foot water wheel.
Nearby is a replica covered bridge built in 1982.
An old blacksmith shop is attached to the grist mill.
A post office operated on the grist mill premises back during the civil war.
We happened to run into the property owner who gave us permission to walk around and take pictures, and told us most of the buildings were open. Here are some photos from the interior of the grist mill.
The other buildings on this property were either moved here or built here. This is a plank house from the 1840s.
The Moe School was Middleville's first, and Barry County's oldest, one room schoolhouse, built in the 1850s.
A log cabin is situated here, origination unknown.
Storage shed, assumed new.
The Trading Post is new, as per the owner.
Carpenter/Cooper shop, barn, and lots of animals.
Bowens Mills is a lovely place to visit and if you're lucky, you'll get to meet the owner, Owen.
