It started as a mining town but became famous for the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. The town has made the most of its history and turned itself into a tourist destination. The gunfight occurred on October 26, in 1881 and lasted 30 seconds. There's a great replication of the fight on the actual site.
There was a 30 minute wait to get into Big Nose Kate's Saloon (the one time girlfriend of Doc Holiday and owner of a brothel) so we ate at the Longhorn Restaurant down the street.
Historic markers are placed in significant locations, and Wyatt Earp's home can be found just outside of downtown.
Here's the miner who responsible for the founding of Tombstone. He'd be surprised to see it today 😊
The town has fully embraced its wild west history and it was a memorable visit.
