Pecos National Historical Park, 1 Peach Drive, Pecos, New Mexico ~ February 2025

Thousands of years of history are preserved here where nomadic hunters first passed through, followed by Indigenous people of the Pueblos and Plains, Spanish colonists, Mexican and Anglo armies, Santa Fe Trail travelers, and today's tourists. It's a beautiful place with more history than will be repeated here.  It's a 35 minute drive from Santa Fe so take in the beauty and appreciate the preservation 💗

Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument and Lava Lake, Flagstaff, Arizona ~ February 2025

Sometime in the mid 1080s a billion tons of material was extruded, and ashfall covered about 800 square miles, forever transforming this landscape. It's a fascinating geological site.

Right next door is Lava Lake, where molten lava squeezed out of the base of Sunset Crater Volcano and spread here.

The lava cooled and formed this somewhat unearthlike current landscape.
