Grand Canyon, South Rim ~ 9/26/13

We took a trip to the Grand Canyon! We had been here back in 2007 but to the West Rim. Run by the Native Americans, there were no guard rails or protections to protect people from themselves. We scared ourselves silly walking on this outcrop and finding ourselves at times six inches from falling into the canyon, and we quickly removed ourselves.
This is also the place where the controversial air bridge resides. Our tour bus took us past it and we were informed that if we stopped to take photos we would be charged a photo fee. So I snapped this from the moving bus.
Now it's 2013 and we're at the South Rim. Here are a few pictures of the canyon from this view.
There may be guard rails here and there but risk-takers still climb down beyond them. These two are watching their wives/girlfriends standing down below in a very brisk wind.
Here are more photos of people enjoying the canyon.
And on a smaller scale ~
Trees!
The Desert View Watchtower was built in 1932 and affords great views, and a gift shop 😉
Here it is from a great distance.
More shadow play on the Canyon.
These are some random pictures on the way there and on the way back to our hotel.
We will never do the river raft trip through the Grand Canyon but we will visit again from the North Rim.

The Grand Canyon, Vacation style ~ it's great :-)
