Lincoln Brick Park, 13991 Tallman Road, Grand Ledge MI

The remains of an old brick factory lie in the park and a sign asks that you not take the bricks.
With no security, fences, or cameras I have to believe some of these bricks walk away. But we were happy that we were free to walk around and explore the ruins.
Up to 40,000 bricks a day were produced here from 1914-1947.
The remains of the kiln.
Nature will continue to take it all back.
But the legacy of the brick factory will live on in its buildings. Here are two of them: the Grand Ledge Post Office and the Library.

Holland MI ~ April 20, 2021

There are so many historic sites in Holland and today we visited a few of them. Our first stop was the 1880s old Fire Station/City Hall, the oldest public building still standing in Holland.

On February 9, 1847, Rev. Albertus C. Van Raalte, with a group of Dutch people, founded the City of Holland.

The old post office is now the Holland Museum.

The museum also owns and manages two historic homes. The first is Settlers Home built around 1867.
The second home is that of Holland's first mayor, Isaac Cappon.
Tulip time was gearing up on one of our visits.
Tulip Time 2024 was better:
The "Dutchman," one of many Padnos sculptures around town, greets those heading toward Windmill Island.
We've previously toured De Zwaan,

and today we just took a long distance look (it was built in the 1700s in the Netherlands and brought to Holland, Michigan, in the 1960s).
No visit to Holland would be complete without seeing "Big Red."
Until next time, Holland.
